Villa R (Vicenza, 2020-2022).

Originally built in the 1970s, Villa R. has been remodelled to accommodate the evolving needs of its inhabitants while preserving the spirit of the existing structure.

A new exposed reinforced concrete extension was designed to house a lift, with the rhythm and texture of the concrete carefully calibrated through a bespoke formwork design.

The partial remodelling offered the opportunity to rethink the entrance vestibule and circulation system, transforming them into the spatial and symbolic core of the house: a gallery hosting a collection of drawings by Alberto Viani, illuminated by Venini chandeliers by Toni Zuccheri and by lamps designed by Tobia Scarpa for Flos.
Along this new axis, a continuous teak boiserie conceals the doors and the access to the ground-floor apartment, defining the hierarchy of spaces while lending warmth and coherence to the intervention. The stainless-steel door frames introduce a subtle counterpoint; a cool precision that contrasts and complements the material depth of the teak.

Other design and art elements from the clients’ collection were harmoniously repositioned, enhancing the refinement of the renewed spaces while maintaining a sense of balance and timelessness;  as if they had always belonged there.

Thus, Villa R. becomes a quiet dialogue between structure and memory, where new gestures seamlessly inhabit and enhance the existing.
