Ristorante Bauto summer terrace, Bassano del Grappa (2021)
The project for the summer terrace of Ristorante Bauto extends the identity of the historic Italian brasserie into an open-air setting, designed to host guests during the warmer months while maintaining the restaurant’s intimate and convivial atmosphere.
The intervention reinterprets the classic terrace as a threshold space — suspended between interior and exterior — where material warmth and spatial rhythm mediate the transition from the lively dining room to the open landscape beyond.
Lightweight structures and natural finishes create a continuity with the existing architecture while introducing new layers of tactility and comfort.
The design favours flexibility and fluidity: tables and seating arrangements adapt to the daily and seasonal rhythms of the restaurant, transforming the terrace into a dynamic extension of its culinary and social life.
Evening lighting softens the outlines and wraps the space in a subtle glow, echoing the slow gestures of summer dining.
The result is a space that feels both familiar and renewed — a contemporary evolution of Bauto’s hospitality, where tradition and openness meet under the same sky.
