Riposte Jan 18th Matete Martini - Participation Curation  (London, 2020).

Presented in London on 18 January 2020, Riposte brought together artists investigating the body as a site of movement, perception, and self-reflection in the contemporary condition.
Within this context, Matete Martini’s contribution offered a distinct curatorial angle — one that unfolded through the study of the human body as a generator of gestures and emotions, a threshold between inner motion and outer expression.

Riccardo Rizzetto collaborated with the artist in the development and coordination of her participation, contributing to both the conceptual framing and the realisation of the works on display. Together, they refined the selection and presentation of the pieces to highlight the reciprocal tensions between the physical and the emotional, the visible and the intimate.

Martini’s canvases originate from photography and video-based research, through which she isolates and abstracts gestures drawn from her daily surroundings. These traces become visual responses to interior states — a choreography of feelings rendered on canvas. Her works question how motion can translate into thought, and how, in the accelerated pace of the present, the body remains a space for reflection and resistance.
